Artist's Biography

Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. In high school I could always be found in the art rooms trying all sorts of different things from sculpture to batik and at night I often took classes in calligraphy and photography. In college I studied graphic design but it was my semester in the pottery shed that ignited my love of clay.  That love stuck with me and I always had a little part of me that dreamed of having a potter’s wheel tucked in a corner of my basement.
Several years ago I was lucky enough to revisit this love of clay and I began taking classes. It was as if my hands had never left the clay behind. So now I operate a home based day care by day but at night and on the weekends I am a potter and currently running a small business called NaturaLee Designed Pottery.  Pottery is such an organic medium that it just lends itself to the shapes of nature and I love experimenting with plant impressions or designing pots to hold plants which is the perfect combination of 2 things that I love.  I make functional pieces that I want in my own home and hope that others will feel the same.  Now that I have a complete pottery studio in my home the sky’s the limit and I hope to be throwing clay around for many, many years to come.
